The difference between duplicated and replicated CDs and DVDs

Duplicated CDs and DVDs are produced using recordable discs indentical to the blank discs that you can buy from your local store. The music or data is 'burned' or 'duplicated' onto the discs using fast CD and DVD drives, stacked together into towers.

Discs produced this way are perfect when you are in a hurry or when you just need a few hundred copies.

The disadvantage of these discs is that a very few early home CD players will not play music CDs that have been burned using recordable CDs. This is also true of some very early DVD players. The good news is that there are very few of these machines left and you should expect a success rate of up to 98%. In any case, most people, finding that a disc wont play on one CD player will often as not have an alternative player available.

Data CDs and DVDs produced in this way, destined for playback on computers are unaffected and we produce many thousands of discs this way every week, both music and data.

Glass mastered or 'replicated' CDs and DVDs are produced using industry standard technology for products to full retail specification. This method is perfect for larger quantities of CDs and DVDs, normally 500 or 1000 units or more. Smaller quantities than this however get expensive because there are set up costs involved.

Turnaround times are longer but if time and budget allows this process ensures a product produced to the highest standards possible.
